Torino City Lab & ToMove
UX/UI design of the Torino City Lab and ToMove platform: a platform dedicated to sustainable mobility and technological innovation in the local territory
Context
Torino City Lab is an urban innovation platform promoted by the City of Turin to support real-world experimentation of urban technological solutions in the fields of smart living, future mobility, and sustainability. Within this mission, ToMove was created as a Living Lab for future mobility that promotes smart and sustainable scenarios integrated into the Mobility as a Service (MaaS) paradigm, with the participation of citizens, operators, research institutions, and companies. ToMove is part of the national MaaS4Italy project, funded by the PNRR, with the goal of making mobility more efficient, sustainable, and flexible, involving communities and urban co-design.
Visual
For ToMove, we developed a logo and a cohesive visual system, using forms and structures that evoke a road network projected onto the city of Turin. These visual elements express concepts such as smart mobility, cloud computing, autonomous driving, sustainability, social sharing, and urban transformation, positioning ToMove as an open, dynamic project integrated into the urban fabric. The color palette was chosen to represent movement, ecology, and technology, resulting in a consistent and recognizable visual system.
Platform
The ToMove website is designed with a clear, simple structure focused on effective navigation. It guides users through open calls for startups, providing information about ongoing challenges and opportunities to participate in co-experimentation activities. The platform also includes dedicated sections for blogs and articles that present news, trends, and results related to sustainable mobility and emerging technologies, with a clear and intuitive flow.
Accessibility
La piattaforma è sviluppata secondo le linee guida WCAG, con supporto a testo ingrandito, interlinea e kerning regolabili, ARIA label e navigazione compatibile con screen reader, garantendo usabilità inclusiva e conforme.
Motion Design & Social Media
Il visual system di ToMove è animato tramite motion design dinamico, che ravviva gli elementi grafici base e rende la comunicazione più coinvolgente. Le animazioni adottano uno stile simile a mini‑giochi, con toni gradient, dando vita ai pattern e ai simboli visuali e contribuendo a una narrazione visiva coerente sui canali digitali. Questo approccio rende il brand più memorabile, facilita l’interazione con il pubblico e riflette i valori di innovazione, sostenibilità e dinamismo del progetto.
My takeaways
I managed UX/UI assets for both developers and the client, ensuring clarity and ease of implementation. I coordinated the exchange of feedback and project briefs with both the team and the client, ensuring continuous content updates while maintaining consistency across visual identity, platform, and digital communication.
